I am, first and foremost, a teacher. I began my teaching career
as a middle school social studies teacher and have now been involved
in teacher education for ten years. Currently, I teach general elementary
education and elementary social studies methods courses. I also
teach courses in middle school social studies methods and civic
discourse in the social studies.
I am particularly interested in integrating computers into the
classroom in meaningful ways. Recently, I completed a project that
allowed preservice teachers to discuss a selection of children’s
literature with fifth graders via online blogs.
In addition to teaching, I am also the middle school coordinator
in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
