Family, youth, and community
International visitor
Dr. Miwako Hayashi, associate professor of family
and consumer sciences education at Mie University in Japan, visited the
family education program at the University of Minnesota from September
21 to September 30, 2006. The purpose of Dr. Hayashi's visit was to gain
a better understanding of the professional and Graduate School programs
offered at the University in the area of family education. To do this,
she interviewed family education faculty, attended courses they were
teaching, and participated in a faculty meeting. This is Dr. Hayashi's
second visit to the University of Minnesota. In 2000, she visited the
family education program for the purpose of better understanding the
family and consumer sciences programs offered at the middle and high
school levels. At that time, Dr. Hayashi and two of her colleagues
visited several middle and high schools in the Twin Cities area.
