Incomplete Grade Policy
The purposes of this policy are to:
- encourage students to complete assignments on time,
- stipulate the process that should be followed if a late assignment cannot be avoided, and
- clarify the consequences of not meeting the expectations as outlined in the
Incomplete Grade Agreement form (click to download).
Assignments that are due during the semester should be submitted by the deadlines specified.
If an assignment is submitted after the stated deadline, but by last day of classes for the semester,
the assignment will be graded--with no grade deduction--and calculated as part of the semester grade.
The Incomplete Grade Agreement is not used for these cases.
The Incomplete Grade Agreement is to be used in cases when assignments (including exams) are not submitted
by the end of the semester. In these cases, the student should:
- provide the information requested on the Incomplete Grade Agreement Form,
- meet with the instructor to negotiate the agreement,
- sign the form and obtain the instructor's signature, and
- make a copy of the form for his or her files, and give the original to the instructor.
This form must be submitted by the last day of classes for the semester to avoid a grade of F/N being submitted as the semester grade.
