What do you do at ETC Services?

I provide individual career counseling to graduate students and alumni.

Education

M.S. Higher Education
Oklahoma State University

B.A. Family Social Science
University of Minnesota

How did you get here?

As a family social science major at the U, I was first exposed to career services when a career counselor visited my class. I remember thinking, "I’d really enjoy that career." A few years later I was working at a small university outside of the Tulsa area in alumni and development. Our career center had an opening, so I applied. In my new role, I realized how much I enjoyed working with students. After graduate school, I moved back to Minnesota and began working at the U of M in alumni relations with our College’s mentor program and recent alumni. Now with ETC Services, I have the opportunity to combine both of my interests: graduate students and alumni.

What do you like about your job?

I love helping students find the answers they need to pursue a career! It's very rewarding.

Most unusual job you ever had:

I helped build a haunted house for a community group during Halloween. It was a lot of fun...and a little scary!

More about you:

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, learning new things, sports and fitness, the outdoors, my dogs, and living vicariously through The Food Network.

What tip would you give students for getting the most out of ETC Services?

After spending many years in school, moving into the workforce can seem a bit overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance along the way. We’re here to help!
