Thanks
Many professionals graciously contribute their time to assist us in
determining whether candidates present the knowledge, skills, and
dispositions required to perform all of the competencies in the
licensing regulations. The following individuals have served since the
last newsletter:

Robert Stepaniak, Cindy Andress, Jim Hoogheem, Tom Dickhudt, Kathleen
Macy, Don Hainlen, Jim Schmitt, Bill Bjorum, Nick Waldoch, Linda

Panelists needed
All licensure students are required to be assessed by a panel prior
to their endorsement for licenses in administration. The panel must
consist of members representing the University and currently licensed
and practicing or recently retired administrators from the
metropolitan or greater Minnesota community.
Serving as a panelist requires a few hours of time in a single
visit. As a panelist, your role is to listen actively, ask questions,
debrief with other members, and determine if the candidate has met the
required competencies. A University administrator will lead the
process.
For their time, panelists receive CEU hours as well as mileage and
parking reimbursement. Please share your knowledge and expertise with
an aspiring administrator by serving on their panel. For more
information, contact Dr. Lynn Scearcy.
Pre-assessment requirement
Candidates enrolled in the administrative licensure program are
required to complete and submit a pre-assessment (licensure rule
MR3512). The pre-assessment and program plan must be submitted prior
to enrolling in the field experience course and they are generally
turned in as part of the overview course for each license. The
pre-assessment and program plan are available online on our
forms page. More information will be
provided in your respective licensure overview course or by contacting
Dr. Lynn Scearcy or Dr. Ann Werner.
Licensure seminar: New required course
Licensure candidates beginning their program summer session 2003 or
later will be required to take one credit of "Licensure Seminar." This
course will prepare candidates to complete the pre-assessment, address
reflective practices, and prepare candidates for the oral portion of
their final assessment, among other content areas.
