Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement
The Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI) creates connections between the College and Minnesota's schools to reform educational practice and improve overall effectiveness, disseminate research results, provide incentives and technical assistance for collaborative school-based research, and address educational issues of state and national importance. Center for Cognitive Sciences
The Center for Cognitive Sciences is an interdisciplinary research center that serves as the foundation for research in the cognitive sciences at the University of Minnesota, its members represent 11university departments and six colleges. (612-625-9367)

Center for Early Education and Development
The Center for Early Education and Development (CEED) links the University's resources with those who serve children and families. CEED facilitates communication among University colleagues around research and professional issues in early education and development and provides increased training opportunities for practitioners. Cooperative Learning Center
The Cooperative Learning Center was created to develop and refine theory of cooperative, competitive, and individualistic efforts and conflict resolution. Staff are engaged in programmatic, long-term research to validate the theories. Center staff use the validated theory to develop practical procedures to be used in classrooms, schools, and other settings. The practical procedures include cooperative learning, school based decision making, academic controversy, decision-making controversy, conflict resolution, and peer mediation. (612-624-7031)

Institute on Community Integration
The Institute on Community Integration (ICI) is committed to preventing and reducing the limiting effects of disabilities. ICI applies its resources to improve the quality and community orientation of professional services and social supports available to individuals with disabilities and their families. The Institute is a University Affiliated Program on Developmental Disabilities, supported in part by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. National Center on Educational Outcomes

The National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) works with state and federal agencies to identify important, measurable educational outcomes for children and youth from birth to adulthood and conducts research on outcome assessment. (612-626-1530)

Biological Basis of Behavior Group

Faculty from five colleges and nine departments investigate phenomena ranging from the physiology of single neurons to the social behavior of whole organisms.
