Developed by Dr. Jürgen Konczak
Required program: 30 credits minimum
GPA: A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 is required to
maintain good standing and to graduate

- KIN 5171—Foundations of Kinesiology, 3 cr.
- KIN 5981—Research Methodology in Kinesiology, Recreation, and
Sport (with grade of A or B), 3
cr.
- KIN 8777—Thesis Credits: Masters (PLAN A), 10 cr.
- KIN 8980—Graduate Research Seminar in Kinesiology, 1-2 cr.
(incoming students will take KIN 8980 in the fall)
Recommended courses for the biomechanics/neural control emphasis:
- *RSC 5135—Advanced Biomechanics I: Kinematics, 2 cr.
- KIN 5235—Advanced Biomechanics II: Kinetics, 3 cr.
- *RSC 5841—Rehabilitation Science Instrumentation and
Methodology, 4 cr.

- KIN 8995—Research Problems in Kinesiology, 3cr.
(Student will sign up for up an independent study with the adviser.
The selected topic will relate to the future thesis.)
- * RSC prefix indicates a course in Rehabilitation
Science
Minor or related field:
A minimum of 6 semester credits in one or more related fields (not KIN
prefix.)
Required course (3 cr. in statistical methods):
At least one statistics course from the following:
- EPSY 8261—Statistical Methods I: Probability and
Inference, 3 cr.

- STAT 5021—Statistical Analysis, 4 cr.
Recommended:
- NSC 5561—Systems Neuroscience, 4 cr.
- KIN 8211—Perception and Action, 3 cr.
Elective courses in both the major and the minor or supporting program
will be selected by the student and the adviser, subject to the adviser’s
approval. These will be selected according to the student’s prior academic
background and future academic and career goals. Access to graduate level
courses in minor or supporting programs may be limited by prerequisites
and demand. KIN 8777—Thesis Credits can be taken even before the all
course work has been completed, if a thesis project has been agreed upon
