M.Ed. in applied kinesiology and initial licensure

M.A. or M.Ed./professional studies?

The School of Kinesiology offers two master’s degree programs: the M.A. (academic) through the Graduate School and the M.Ed. (applied) through the College of Education and Human Development. Select the link above for information to help you decide which is the right master’s program for you.

M.Ed. options

The Division of Kinesiology offers both M.Ed./initial licensure and M.Ed./professional studies programs. Students earning an M.Ed. in applied kinesiology may select specific program emphases from among the following.

Emphasis areas

  • Professional studies
    The M.Ed./professional studies program has three options: sport and exercise science, sport management, and developmental/adapted physical education.
  • Initial licensure
    The M.Ed./initial licensure is for individuals pursuing initial licensure as physical education teachers.
