PE courses FAQ
Physical education (PE) classes
The physical activity program consists of many 1-credit physical
activity courses. Most classes have approximately 28 hours of
instruction over a 14-week period of time. The classes are taught by
graduate students and teaching specialists.
Answers to typical questions
Answers to questions not given below can be obtained in 220 Cooke
Hall, or by calling 612-625-5300.
Closed PE class policy
The department does not issue magic numbers prior to the first
day of class and the department does not have waiting lists
for any of these classes.
Activity classes automatically close after the end of the second
day the class meets. If a student wants to get into a class, he/she
must attend the first and/or second day of class. At that time, the
student should inform the instructor that he/she wants to get into
the course. If there is an open spot by the end of the second day of
class, the instructor can give the student a magic number, which
will allow the student to register for the class. If the student has
not attended the first and/or second day of class, the instructor
may or may not allow the student into the class.
Clothes/Equipment
Attend the first day of class expecting instruction, as you would for
any other academic class. Dress appropriately. The Department of
Kinesiology supplies equipment; however, bring your own if you
prefer.
PE facility fees (see class schedule for specifics*)
Note: fees collected by instructor and vary depending on equipment
and expenditures needed by student.
