Recreation, park, and leisure studies emphasis areas
Outdoor education/recreation
Outdoor education/recreation explores recreational, educational and therapeutic
resources, issues and methods in outdoor, adventure and environmental education
as well as wilderness-based outdoor programs and park administration.
Students complete courses and conduct research related to these topic
areas, with an emphasis on experiential learning and applied research
conducted at field-based sites. The School houses the
Outdoor Behavior Healthcare Research
Cooperative (OBHRC) which carries out a comprehensive research
program on outdoor behavioral healthcare programs operating in North
America.
