M.Ed. in recreation, park, and leisure studies

M.A. or M.Ed./professional studies?
The School of Kinesiology offers two master’s degree programs: the M.A. (academic) through the Graduate School and the M.Ed. (applied) through the College of Education and Human Development. Select the link above for information to help you decide which is the right master’s program for you.

The M.Ed. program

This program is designed to teach skills and prepare students and professionals for employment in leisure services. The program is flexible and can be tailored to individual student needs. To accommodate the busy schedule of professionals, many courses are offered late afternoons, weekends, and during the summer. Some courses are also offered at community-based sites.

With guidance from faculty advisers, students choose 30 semester credits of work, which may include course work, independent study, internships, workshops, agency-based experiences, and special institute courses during the summer.
