David Arendale received his B.S. in history and philosophy and a master’s in history from Emporia State University in Kansas. His studies continued with a certificate in developmental education from the Kellogg Institute at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. He received a Ph.D. in history and higher education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
David is a member of the social science faculty, currently teaching PsTL 1251—Global History and Culture. His research objectives are to explore issues related to academic access and developmental education and to develop strategies that increase the success of underrepresented student populations in college. He has been very active in professional associations in the field, including serving as national president of the National Association for Developmental Education.
David enjoys traveling, photography, and the cinema.
