Curriculum
Requirements for a Master of Arts (M.A.):
Work and Human Resource Education with
a Specialization in Agricultural, Food, and Environmental
Education Current students should complete program
planning sheets to help you meet your program requirements.
Minimum of 30 credits required for graduation; at least 6
credits must be taken outside the department.
General Aspects (3 cr minimum)
- One of the following two courses:
- AFEE 5290—Seminar: Current Issues in Ag. Ed. & Extension
(3 cr)
- AFEE 5331—History, Philosophy & Systems of Extension (3
cr)
Research (4 cr minimum)
- WHRE 8915—Ethics and Responsible Research (1 cr)
- and one of the following four courses
- WHRE 5901—Using Research in Work and Human
Resource Education (3 cr)
or
WHRE 8912—Quantitative Research (3 cr)
or
CI 8913—Interpretive Research (3 cr)
or
CI 8914—Critical Science Research (3 cr)
Plan B Paper (3 cr minimum)
- AFEE 5993—Directed Study in Agricultural Education and
Extension (3-6 cr)
AFEE Specialization (10 credit minimum)
For agricultural education focus
- AFEE 5231—Agricultural Education Curriculum K-12
- AFEE 5233—Advanced Procedures in Teaching Ag. Ed.
- AFEE 5235—Advanced Supervised Ag. Experience Programs
- AFEE 5237—Mentorship for Supervising Ag. Ed. Teachers
- AFEE 5239—Program Organization & Management in Ag. Ed.
For agricultural extension focus
- AFEE 5331—History, Philosophy, & Systems of Extension
- AFEE 5341—Global Program Delivery Techniques &
Technology of Extension
- WHRE 5351—Methods for Change in Developing Countries
- AFEE 5361—World Development Problems
- AFEE 5371—Farming Systems Research & Extension
For a combination of agricultural education and extension
Students may select 10 credits from either the agricultural
education focus or agricultural extension focus.
Electives (6 credits must be from outside WHRE)
