Curriculum

Requirements for a Master of Arts (M.A.):

Work and Human Resource Education with a Specialization in Human Resource Development

Current students should complete program planning sheets.

Minimum of 34 credits required for graduation; at least 6 credits must be taken outside the department

General Aspects (3 credits minimum)

WHRE 5001—Survey: HRD & Adult Education (3 cr)

Research (3 credits minimum)

WHRE 8915—Ethics and Responsible Research (1 cr)

AND one of the following five courses

WHRE 5901—Using Research in Work and Human Resource Education (3 cr)

WHRE 8911—Foundations of Inquiry (3 cr)

WHRE 8912—Quantitative Research (3 cr)

CI 8913—Interpretive Research (3 cr)

CI 8914—Critical Science Research (3 cr)

Plan B Project OR Plan B Paper

WHRE 5993—Directed Study in Work and Human Resource Education (3-6 cr)

Human Resource Development Specialization (16 credit minimum)

HRD 5201—Training and Development of Human Resources (3 cr)

HRD 5301—Organization Development (3 cr)

HRD 5196—Internship: Human Resources Development (4 cr)

HRD 5105—Strategic Planning Through Human Resource (3 cr) Development

AdEd 5101—Strategies for Teaching Adults (3 cr)

Electives (6 cr. minimum)

Electives must be selected from outside the department/ major (not AdEd, AFEE, BIE, FE, HRD, VoEd, WHRE, or prior designators for these areas.)

Notes: Courses must be at the 4000 level or above.
A maximum of 40 percent of coursework may be transferred from outside Graduate School registration.
