Master of Arts Programs in WHRE
The master of arts in work and human resource education
degree, offered through the University
of Minnesota Graduate School, emphasizes research and theory
culminating in a written thesis or extensive research project.
Students may choose to pursue Plan A (thesis) or Plan B
(substitutes additional coursework and special projects for
thesis) to earn their M.A. degree. Under Plan B, a minimum of 30
to 34 semester hours is required (depending on specialization).
While an M.A. can be completed in as little as three semesters,
the Graduate School allows up to seven years for degree
completion. It is possible for a student to complete an M.A.
program entirely through summer registration in the Graduate
School.
The master's degree is awarded in recognition of academic
accomplishment as demonstrated by a coherent program of
coursework, passing of the required examinations, and
preparation of a thesis or projects.
