Applying
to the YDL program
Applicants to the M.Ed. program in youth development leadership must
meet the following admission criteria:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- A preferred 2.80 overall grade point average (GPA). Applications
from candidates who do not meet this GPA requirement will be
reviewed for conditional admission
- At least two years of experience working with youth
- A current résumé
- A personal letter of intent
- Letters of recommendation from at least two persons (e.g.,
administrators, colleagues, instructors) familiar with the
applicant's performance who can attest to his/her capacity for youth
development leadership
Applications are accepted on a year-round basis. However, core
courses are taken in sequence with a
cohort and
commence in the fall. Those who wish to know whether or not they have
been accepted into the program prior to the start of fall classes must
submit applications by July 1st.
Applications are processed by the College's Student Services
office and forwarded to specific program faculty
for review. Admission decisions are generally made three to four weeks
after application materials have been received.
If approved by a YDL academic adviser, students may complete up to 9
graduate semester credits of this program before admission to the College of Education
& Human Development (CEHD).
