Quality in Early Child Care & Education:
It's All About Relationships

This McEvoy lecture provided an overview
of how and why relationships with adults are essential during early
development, what long- and short-term implications there are for
children when attachment and interaction is high versus low quality,
and what implications there are for early childhood professional
development programs and public policies given the essential role of
adult interactions during early childhood.

Featured Speakers
|
Robert Pianta, Ph.D., is Dean of the
Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. His research
focuses on investigating the effects of schooling on children's social
and academic outcomes and on improving school and classroom
experiences through teachers' professional development.
Byron Egeland, Ph.D., is the Irving
B. Harris Professor of Child Development at the University of
Minnesota. His research focuses on the areas of child maltreatment,
the development of high risk children, developmental psychopathology,
and intervention with high risk families.
