Working with infants, toddlers, and
their parents is both rewarding and challenging, evoking powerful
feelings in the professionals who deliver these relationship-based
services. Effective supervision of these professionals requires the
creation of a supportive supervisory relationship which allows the
worker to "step back" and explore observations, feelings, and
actions.
This group
is a chance for supervisors to come together to learn about and
experience reflective supervision. The practice of reflection helps
staff to remain emotionally available and connected to
families--within appropriate professional boundaries--so they can
develop interventions that support the evolving relationship between
the parent and child. The goal of this group is to enhance the
supervisor's ability to create supportive supervisory relationships
which allow for reflection on the emotional responses to the work.
If you are currently supervising staff who
work with parents and their very young children and would like the
opportunity to meet with a similarly committed group of supervisors,
you are invited to participate in an upcoming series of monthly
reflective practice groups. These meetings
will promote professional development by using collegial relationships
to encourage the thoughtful observation of oneself and others. The
content for the group will emerge from the practice experiences of
the participants. The size of the group will be limited, and
participants will be asked to commit to the entire series (either 6 or
12 sessions). Certificates of completion will be made available to those completing all
sessions.
This group is co-sponsored by CEED and
Dakota County Public Health.
