Evaluation
studies
The Ph.D. offered in the evaluation studies track of the educational policy
and administration program is the only one offered in the Upper Midwest and one
of the few offered in the United States. Both qualitative and quantitative
evaluation methods are emphasized, and practical experience is offered in
conducting program evaluations and policy studies. Professionals in this field
work with educational institutions and systems, businesses, non-profit
organizations, and community organizations to analyze and assess their programs,
and to help devise methods for improving and/or expanding goals or outcomes. The
field attracts students from diverse professional backgrounds. Many go on to
establish themselves as consultant evaluators or to join faculties at higher
education institutions.
