Interdisciplinary focus

If you are a licensed teacher interested in interdisciplinary curriculum and instruction, this M.Ed. program will provide the opportunity to explore the emerging themes, curriculum materials, and instructional methods influencing increasing numbers of middle schools and high schools around the country. You are encouraged to pursue coursework in a number of different areas to develop instructional competency in a variety of subjects. For students working toward an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction we offer the option of taking subject-matter specific methods courses from a range of different disciplinary areas rather than taking methods courses exclusively in one area. You will study with faculty who have national reputations in such areas as literacy, math, adolescent literature, environmental sciences, adolescent development, and cooperative learning. The program also emphasizes extensive field experience in classrooms.
