Social psychological and social developmental processes in educational
psychology (including human relations)
The psychological
foundations of education track within the College’s Department of
Educational Psychology offers opportunities to focus in several different
areas of specialized study, including social psychological and social
developmental processes in educational psychology (including human
relations).
Study plans usually are individualized according to the student’s
interests and goals, structured with the guidance of the graduate adviser,
and require minimal core coursework.
This area
takes an inter-disciplinary approach to examining the social and
social developmental processes that relate to outcomes in schools
and other educational settings across the life span. Specific
topics addressed by individual students are defined by the student
and his/her committee and they include: social influence processes,
group dynamics, methods of organizational change and conflict
resolution, cooperative learning, the development and functions of
play, aggression in schools, and human relations.
