University of Minnesota Parent Web site
Yes, there is a manual for this

Marjorie Savage, director of the University of Minnesota Parent Program, offers realistic advice for parents of college students in her book You're On Your Own (But I'm Here If You Need Me).
The University has many resources for family members of students. Take some time to explore the Parent Web site, which has information on safety, finances, transportation, events, and even U student vocabulary. When your student starts talking to you about the Gopher Way, WABC, MSA, UDS, and the Mall...you'll be prepared. This site also has a thorough University Links section, which will help you quickly find the information you need.
Parents' FAQ
We've gathered together a brief list of common questions parents ask when their student joins the College. The FAQ also includes links to helpful Web sites within the College and University.
Unleash your parent power
Whether this is the first time or the fifth time you’re sending a child to college, you’re probably feeling a range of emotions. One of the most common feelings parents of college students experience is helplessness. After all, your role in your child’s life is changing significantly. You might be wondering what you can do as a parent to make college a rewarding and supportive place for your child.
Here at the College, and at the University in general, we recognize just how vital parent involvement is to healthy student development. That’s why we hope you’ll read this set of desired outcomes for parent involvement, created by the University’s Office of Student Affairs. Use this list to guide your actions in helping your family adjust to the college experience.
