Kinesiology emphasis areas

Human factors/ergonomics

Human factors/ergonomics is an interdisciplinary area of study which focuses on the interaction between people and technology. It emphasizes the behavioral approach to performance in the context of human-machine systems. Human factors/ergonomics has its roots in cognitive science, engineering, kinesiology, physiology, and psychology; computer science has recently become an important element in this area of research. The Affordance-Perception Action Laboratory directed by Professor Thomas Stoffregen provides the facility where graduate students can engage in ongoing or new research projects.
