Bob has been a University employee for many years, beginning as a full-time employee even before he graduated from the University and continuing through several departments and colleges over the years, including working for five years in the General College Student Counseling and Student Development Office in the 1980s.

Bob has served as chair of the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and on the boards of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, Central Community Housing Trust, Citizens for a Loring Park Community, Out & About Theater, and Up & Over Theater. He believes in citizen involvement at the neighborhood level and has a passionate interest in architecture and urban design. Bob and his partner live in a 1904 condo which they gutted and are still hoping to finish someday. He has worked in CRDEUL since 2004.
