Application checklist
__ Interview with coordinator, Amy Jo Lundell
__ M.Ed./initial licensure application form
__ Application fee $55: Make check, money order or bank draft payable to the University of Minnesota.
__ Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended or are currently attending. Transcripts must be received from the issuing school in a sealed and stamped envelope. University of Minnesota students should submit an unofficial transcript.
__ Professional résumé
__ Reflective essay: Limit two pages, typed or word-processed, double-spaced, 12 point font. Discuss how your experiences have influenced your decision to become a teacher. Examples of questions to address: Why would you like to be a teacher? What skills or qualities do you bring to teaching?
__ Two letters of recommendation: Ask those writing letters to address your ability to do graduate level coursework and your education-related experience, work style, and personal attributes. Letters should be addressed to: “Selection Committee – Family and Consumer Sciences Education”. We prefer that you submit your letters of recommendation with your application. It is optional for letters to be in sealed envelopes.
__ PPST (Pre-Professional Skills Test): *Write in one sentence the date you have taken or plan to take the PPST test.
__ Verification of site visit to family and consumer sciences classroom: *Write in one sentence the date of your visit, the school name, and teacher.
*Both sentences can be on one sheet of paper and must be included with your application.
