About me
I will begin my seventh year of advising with the 08-09 academic year. My eclectic background includes an associate degree as a veterinarian’s assistant, a bachelor’s degree in history from UW-Madison, and a master’s degree in social work from the U of M. In addition I have a minor in women's studies and Spanish, along with a year's study at the University of Madrid, Spain.
I have taught Career Planning and First Year Experiences courses here as well. My passion is in the area of coaching students to enhance their interpersonal skills such as accepting responsibility, developing emotional intelligence, fostering interdependent relationships, believing in themselves, and creating greater self-awareness.
My values in the advising relationship center on listening to students, reflecting back to them their own innate wisdom, promoting balance and healthy choices, and of course, helping students navigate this University in all its complexities and exciting opportunities.
I am a mom to Lizzie and Aaron, one a college freshman, the other just out of college. They are by far my greatest teachers. I look forward to every day and meeting every student.
See you soon!
