Requirements for Ph.D. Work and Human Resource Education with a Specialization in HRD

Minimum of 84 credits required for graduation.

 General Aspects (16 credits minimum)

  • WHRE 8142  Comparative Systems in Work and Human Resource Education (3 cr)
 Specialization (24 credits minimum)
  • AdEd 5101  Strategies for Teaching Adults (3 cr)
  • WHRE 5001  Survey: HRD and Adult Education (3 cr)
    [Students are strongly encouraged to take this course first.]
  • HRD 5105  Strategic Planning in through Human Resource Development (3 cr)
  • HRD 5196  Internship: Human Resource Development (4 cr)
  • HRD 5201  Training and Development of Human Resources (3 cr)
  • HRD 5301  Organization Development (3 cr)
  • HRD 5xxx  2 credits of electives in HRD
  • WHRE 8001  Advanced Theory in HRD and Adult Education (3 cr)
 Research (16 credits minimum)
  • WHRE 8911  Foundations of Inquiry (3 cr)
  • WHRE 8912  Quantitative Research (3 cr)
  • WHRE 8915  Ethical Responsibility in Research (1 cr)
  • WHRE 8990  Research Seminar (1 cr only)
  • Graduate level statistics course (3 cr)
 Plus one of the following courses:
