Lori grew up attending Hmong charter schools in the Twin Cities area and was a first-generation college student at St.Olaf College, where she studied Psychology, Family Studies, and Education. Lori credits St. Olaf’s TRIO SSS and TRIO McNair Scholars Program for helping her develop a passion to amplify the voices of first-generation college students. This passion led Lori to working at College Possible as a Success Coach and then to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities as a graduate student in the OLPD MA program on the Higher Education Track. Her research focuses on how academic advisors can be key game-changers in restructuring the higher education system to better serve first-generation college students.
For fun, Lori loves watching Marvel movies, the Twilight Saga, and cheesy 2000’s romcoms. Please feel free to stop by her office for snacks, or to chat about how our childhood experiences made us who we are today!
