Graduate career outcomes

One of the many benefits of being a College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) student is choosing a major or program that is interesting to you and prepares you for exciting careers.

Each year we ask our recent graduates what they are doing with their CEHD degrees. This and other career information is organized for you to explore potential employers and career opportunities related to areas of study at CEHD. These lists are not exhaustive -- find out about other careers that might interest you.

The University of Minnesota conducts a Post-Graduation Survey (PGS) where we reach out to graduates of undergraduate degree programs to learn about their plans during their first year post-graduation. Data includes career outcomes, employment information, and continuing education plans with multiple filters. This dashboard shows PGS results from all University of Minnesota colleges.

Within 12 months of graduating 93.4% of CEHD graduates are employed or continuing their education.

    • 55% Employed by company or organization
    • 37% Accepted or enrolled in graduate or professional program
    • 2% Involved in other career-related activities (paid/unpaid internship, working freelance/contract, military service, or volunteer service)

Source: Post-Graduation Survey of CEHD Undergraduate Students Spring 2022 and Fall 2022. Knowledge Rate = 71.2%.
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a knowledge rate is the percentage of graduates for whom you have knowledge about their first-destination career outcomes (either survey response or other legitimate sources of information such as faculty, employers, and social media). A knowledge rate of 65% is recommended by NACE.
